Jeff & Cynthia's Adventures

Cane Garden Bay

Home Travel British Virgin Islands 2026 Cane Garden Bay

This ended up being a nice place to snorkel; it just takes a bit of swimming around to find the good spots.

Of course, first, Julia whipped up a delicious breakfast – again! We had fench toast and a fruit plate.

Then, we jumped into the water to snorkel. The reef in the area has a huge section of dead coral with not many fish. But, as we swam around, we found a great area with lots of fish. Here, a school of fish swam by us, stopping to eat every now and then.

A close-up of the ubiquitous Caribbean Blue Tang.

Here is Cynthia floating around watching the fish while recording them with the Osmo Action 6 video camera (similar to a GoPro).

These fish were passing by when they all converged on one spot to eat.

This is a great shot of three different fish. The yellow fish is a French Grunt, the fish with red is a Redband Parrotfish, and I think the 3rd fish is a Smallmouth Grunt (but I’m not 100% sure on that one since I can’t see its face).

A fantastic picture of a Blue Tang…

While there is a lot of dead coral in the Virgin Islands, there are still healthy hard and soft corals, too. This is a really interesting coral…

Here, you see a soft coral (the lavendar branches) and a hard coral. The hard coral looks dead, but the formations are still pretty. And, the fish love to hang out and hide in the crevices of the hard coral.

We see a lot of these Ocean Surgeonfish in the Virgin Islands.

Time to get back on board the boat.

Next, we moved on to Monkey Point on Guana Island
