Jeff & Cynthia's Adventures

Santa Fe – Still Morning!

Home Travel Galapagos 2025 Santa Fe – Still Morning!

We went back to the boat to get ready for a snorkel adventure. Yup, it’s still morning, before lunch!

Here are some of our companions also getting ready for the jump into the water. I’m on the right, that’s my elbow sticking out. See, we all look funny in our wetsuits!

When we first got in, there was a very large school of Black Striped Salema fish. They were everywhere! These fish are endemic to the Galápagos.

Here’s a better view to see what they look like…along with the larger Yellow Tailed Surgeonfish.

We saw schools of them, too!

We continued to see the colorful King Angelfish, shown here with the Surgeonfish.

I think this is a Spinster Wrasse, although I could be wrong. 😉 This is a close-up, making it look large, but it’s a small fish.

Here, we have a female Blue-barred Parrotfish (aka Blue-chin Parrotfish). Her blue lines seemed to glow!

And I believe this is the male. He’s being cleaned (the cleaning fish is below his mid-section).

Meanwhile, some sea lions came over to check us out and play! This is one of my favorite pictures of underwater sea lions from our Galápagos trip. It’s perfect because it’s exactly what they would do when they wanted to play. Just swim up and blow bubbles in your face!

Another one, with some of her bubbles…

These next pictures are great, too – there goes the sea lion following the fins to play!

Another sea lion joined the chase…

Meanwhile, a school of larger fish swam by… they are kind of hard to see here and I couldn’t figure out which fish this was.

Then, there was this on the bottom… I wonder what made that dug-out shape?

To wrap up this snorkel trip, we saw some turtles. They would be hanging out on the bottom, and then eventually swim up and away. This one is hanging out in the rocks with a King Angelfish in front of him.

And this one was just sitting on the sandy bottom, then he swam away.

That’s it for this snorkel adventure! We headed back to have some lunch. It’s amazing how hungry you get with all this activity.

Today’s lunch menu…

Surprisingly, the starter had caviar on top of the smoked salmon. I don’t really like caviar, but I tasted this one to see, and nope! I didn’t like this one either. Jeff passed on it. So, we gave our caviar topping to another guest who loves it. Lucky her!

The shared veggie/salad dish was some kind of green bean and red cabbage salad today.

For the entree, Jeff chose the turkey.

While I chose the passion fruit-glazed seared tuna. They called it sashimi, but it was not. It was seared, like Ahi Tuna at home. It was delicious!

Since Jeff and I couldn’t eat the bananas, they made us an ice cream only dessert. I forgot what the flavors were, but it was yummy!

So ends the day’s adventures for us. We decided to take a break and skipped the afternoon hike.

Dinner was yummy, it was a pasta night.

We forgot to get pictures of everything, but here is the salad and my pesto pasta with grilled shrimp. Jeff had the fish instead of shrimp.

Next up is North Seymour Island…
