We are finally here! Our first stop on this 2-week trip is Euphorbia Lodge at Mashatu Game Reserve.

Our guide, Tips, brought us to the lodge, where we were greeted by the manager, BG. They showed us around a bit and then took us to our room. Although, “room” is an understatement – it’s a standalone villa.

Here we are after 2+ days of travel to get here. They gave us a super colorful drink, it was very fruity and different. I’m not sure what was in it. Remember this picture of me, because in the next blog post, you will see what I ended up looking like for our entire trip. Hint: it wasn’t like this. 😉

We didn’t think to take a picture of the outside of our villa, but we have plenty of the inside and back deck area. These are all perched along a cliff edge, with a great view.

Here is the bedroom. I love the tree trunk used at the desk.

The bathroom has an inside shower, along with a bathtub. This view shows the bathtub and the additional outside shower area.

The outdoor shower was really nice. It’s all the way on this one side of the outdoor deck area.

When you turn around to look the other way, you see the deck area, which wraps around the house. This is one side of it (the shower is at the far end of this photo). It’s hard to see in the photo, but the view is over a cliff, which drops down to a riverbed.

Around the corner is the other side of the deck. There is a nice plunge pool to cool off in.

Just like inside, they used some tree trunks to make the pillars holding up the roof. Very cool. They really did a great job designing Euphorbia to blend in with the environment here.

Back at the main lodge building, they have some really nice areas to hang out. For meals, they set up our table in a different area for each meal.

For our first breakfast, we sat outside here with this great view of a lounge area and the surrounding bush.

The lodge is named Euphorbia after the Euphorbia trees that grow here. These are the trees with the green branches you see in this photo. This walkway leads out to a view point.

On the other side, there is a different lounge area, with comfy seating. It, too, is surrounded by the Euphorbia trees.

This is one of the cozy indoor lounge areas. There is a fireplace because it gets chilly at night here.

Well, that’s all for a tour of Euphorbia Lodge. It was a beautiful place to stay.
