Raining In Paradise

Home Travel British Virgin Islands 2026 Raining In Paradise

After so many sunny days with only a few bits of rain sprinkled in, we finally got stuck with a full day of rain. It was a storm that blew over, then more stormy weather followed. No snorkeling today! Instead, Rob moved the boat a few times to find the best place to anchor during the storm.

Of course, nothing stops Julia from creating amazing meals for us! This morning, she made a delectable apple tart with a super flaky crust. Oh, wow, was that good! 😍 Check out this beautiful tart and the fruit plate…

Even with bad weather, we needed to keep making progress on getting closer to the airport, so we needed to move the boat. Our options were more limited because of the storm – but Rob decided we’d try out Little Harbour on Peter Island.

Julia is more than just a chef – she’s also the first mate. Here she is helping with pulling the anchor up. The anchor is controlled with a remote control, which you can see in her hand. Pretty fancy!

Finally, we were ready to motor on to Little Harbour. Rob – I mean, CAPTAIN Rob – gave me the signal and we were off!

We got a great picture of one of the storms. Luckily, that one was to our side, not where we were heading. But, it didn’t matter, the storms just kept coming.

We finally made it over to Little Harbour (on Peter Island). Unfortunately, many other boats had the same idea to moor here. It was too crowded for us to find a safe anchorage.

But, wow, we saw a huge yacht with lots of toys here. It looked crazy! Look at all the toys they have in the water! I wonder how many people are on that yacht to need all those different things. LOL!

And, when we went around the boat, we saw their speed boat. I wonder if they towed it behind them?

Anyway, we had to move on from here, so Rob took us to The Bight (Bay) at Norman Island. Interestingly, many think this was the location for Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel Treasure Island. Who knows? There are other places that claim to be the inspiration for it, too. 😉

Whelp, the rain was pouring down so hard by the time we got to Norman Island. Poor Rob & Julia were outside working on mooring the boat. Here’s our view through the window at Julia up front where she helps with the anchoring.

At this location, there is a famous bar called Willy T’s. Many boaters come by here just to visit Willy T’s. Well, here is what it looks like through the rain.

It looks dark in the above pictures, but it was still 10:30 in the morning!

Later, when the rain let up a bit, a lot of folks visited Willy T’s from the surrounding boats. We weren’t interested, so we didn’t. But, it started getting too loud from there, so Rob & Julia were nice enough to move the boat further away to a quieter spot in the bay. We really appreciate that.

After getting us settled, Julia still managed to make lunch. Today, we had grilled steak, caprese salad and focaccia bread. Oh, it was all so good! We started to dig into the bread before remembering to take a picture.

Here is our plate with the steak looking perfectly pink. Wow, are we spoiled! 😊

Finally, the clouds started to break up. We saw an amazing rainbow! This is a pic from my iPhone. I promise, I didn’t add those colors during editing!

Sunset was really pretty, too. I guess this is the positive side of a storm. 😊

Even with the work of getting us here from Cooper Island to Little Harbour, then our first spot here and then moving us again, Julia managed to make a wonderful dinner of risotto and snapper. I’ve made risotto a couple of times before, and it takes so much time to constantly stir. It’s a lot of work, so I was amazed that Julia was able to do it with all the other things she was doing. It was delicious!

Apparently, we forgot to take a picture of dessert, so oops!

Time to hit the sack.
