Today, we arrived in the British Virgin Islands for another great catamaran charter. Last year, we flew into St Thomas, USVI, and sailed both the US and British Virgin Islands. This year, we flew into Tortola, BVI, and we are sailing only the BVI.
Our flight was from Denver to Miami, then directly to the EIS airport on Tortola. We had standard planes this year, no puddle-jumpers like last year.
Our stunning boat this year is a Bali 5.8 named “Dream On”. It’s the same type of boat we used last year (Koru, a Bali 4.8), but larger. Dream On is about 58 feet long, compared to last year’s Koru, which was 48 feet. Other than the size difference, the layout and design of the two boats are very similar. I grabbed this photo from Dream On’s website..

Our fabulous crew – Rob (the captain) and Julia (the first mate & chef) – met us at the Village Cay marina. Dream On was docked there to pick us up; we didn’t stay there overnight. This was our view as we waited for them to pick us up – and this is only 1 of the 3 docks.

Although Julia had a beautiful lunch laid out for us, we took a quick look around the boat. Then, we dug into lunch. There were sandwiches, but the highlight was these delicious and colorful platters…

The salon area is large with lots of space for us to stretch out. We will also eat some of our meals here.

Another place we like to hang out is up on the bridge. This is also a great place to have meals.

The master suite on this boat is much larger than the one on Koru. It is so large that one side has the toilet closet and a sink, while the other side of the cabin has the shower and another sink. 😮 You can see part of one of the sinks in the photo below. And then across to the otherside, there is the shower/sink room and the exit door. I also grabbed this photo from Dream On’s website. We’ll have to get a picture of the shower, it’s surprisingly large.

This bed is an almost full-size king bed, and since the room is large, they didn’t have to chop off too much of the corners – so Jeff has no problem with his height on this boat. On Koru, the corners were much more chopped, so we used two bedrooms so that Jeff could fit on a bed. Nice that this time, we can stay in the same cabin.
After our boat tour and lunch, we set off to our first stop of the trip. The weather was sunny at first, but then we caught up to the rain clouds. Eventually, we were under those clouds.

Our first stop was Little Harbor on Peter Island. We weren’t planning to snorkel here, but it was a nice calm place to moor for the night. Sunset lit up the sky…

We had dinner at the front of the boat.

Yum! Julia made filet mignon with mashed potatoes, asparagus and these delicious little purple pearl onions. It was all so good, we cleaned our plates!

For dessert, she made a panna cotta topped with caramel and fresh berries. Yum!

Our mooring spot in Little Harbor was interesting. They dropped the anchor, then Julia swam over to tie two ropes to the rocks and trees on the shore. All of the other boats did the same.

Speaking of the other boats… this spot reminds us of an RV Park. All these boats lined up like RVs. This was our view one direction…

And this was out across the harbour…

This was such a calm harbour compared to how choppy the water was outside the harbour.
Tomorrow, we will move on to a snorkeling spot and then decide where to moor for the night.
